Dragon Ride 2008 – Complete

Well, it’s over. Three thousand riders, 74 miles, 4 hours 47 minutes, sore knees, and a great sense of accomplishment. The ride was really great. My adrenaline was really flowing at the start. I’ve never seen that many men (and women) in spandex and lycra. There were 3 major climbs throughout the ride, and several smaller ones. The biggest climb ascended 1000 feet over 4.5 miles. It was extremely tough…in fact – it was the most physically (and mentally) demanding thing I’ve ever done. But I think I’ve caught the bug and will be signing up for another. Here are a few photos from the finish. And no making fun of the shorts. You gotta do what you gotta do.

Cheers.

Great report. What a challenge. As a wearer of spandex and lycra myself, I won’t dare make fun of you. Well, not in this comment section anyway.

Your new title is, “King of the Hill”. That is how I shall refer to you from here on out.

Congratulations. There are multitudes who don’t finish. It is that hard.

I don’t know that you should call me “King of the Hill”. There was a girl, probably in her mid 20’s that passed me on the big climb like I was sitting still, resting.

I never did catch up to her.
